Merry Christmas from Mrs. Carpenter's Kindergarten! We have been busy! Today's update includes..
Reindeer Friday
The Gingerbread Man visited our classroom & SANTA
Third Graders performed Goldilock's Christmas for us
Our Polar Express Party
Reading with our Fourth Grade Reading Buddies

The following pictures are from Reindeer Fun Friday, last Friday. We made Rudloph out of popsicle sticks, made Magical Reindeer food, and read a reindeer story & colored a reindeer.

SANTA surpised us! We got to tell him what we want for Christmas and he gave us a treat! It was a sled made out of a milky way, two candy canes and a teddy bear!

Our Class with Santa!

The Third Graders performing Goldilock's Christmas.

We were practicing being a good audience. ;)

Just changed into our pajamas and ready for the Polar Express!

Each student got a "golden ticket" to enter the Polar Express (pretending), just like the boy in the story!
70 Kindergarteners in my classroom engaged in watching the Polar Express... we took a break to have a snack of  chocolate milk and cookies. They also got a bell to ring, just like the little boy in the story!

Every Thursday we travel to Mrs. Gigax's Fourth grade class for Reading Buddies. During this time, we pair each student up with their buddy and they read stories to one another. Both the K kids and 4th graders love this time. Ask your child about it. Here are several pictures of our kiddos with their buddies. :)

Check back this weekend! I will be posting pictures from our Holiday Party that takes place tomorrow.
Happy Holidays!

On Friday, we finished our study on letter Dd. We celebrated by eating DIRT pudding. It has chocolate pudding, oreos, and a gummy worm. Thank you to Dylan Smith's family for providing it for our students. The kiddos definitely enjoyed that tasty treat and it was a nice wrap up to learning letter Dd!

Thank you! What fun!

On Friday, we also began a mini-unit on the Four Season. We made our own book that was sent home in your child's backpack on Friday. Help them read it to you and discuss the seasons. They learned a song that we will continue to sing this coming week. Ask them about it. It goes to the tune of This Old Man. Here are the lyrics:

Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
There are seasons four in all.
Weather changes, sun and rain and snow
Leaves fall down and flowers grow.

Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
There are seasons four in all.
Look outside and you will see
Just what season it will be.

Have a great weekend! Your child is such a joy to have in class!

Goodbye Miss Hart!
Miss Hart is Miss Workman's student teacher. Our kindergarten classes work together on activities almost weekly. Our class has really gotten to know Miss Hart and will miss her. Yesterday, (Friday, Nov. 9), our classes celebrated Miss Hart's last day with a Root Beer Float party!
